Further Delays for Customers Moving to India with Port Congestion in Nhava Sheva,

Port delays in Nhava Sheva (the port for Mumbai) are resulting in delays for customers shipping to India.

Since the beginning of August, we have been monitoring the congestion in Nhava Sheva, India’s largest container port. Severe terminal congestion and berthing delays are being caused by the ongoing crane installation at the state-owned terminal.

Additionally, an unofficial “go slow” labour action by dock workers is threatening to worsen the situation.

Several steamship lines are skipping the Nhava Sheva port of call and discharging cargo at other Indian ports.

This is also at the time of the Monsoon season which is also only adding to the problems and delays.

Abels are consulting with customers and where possible bringing possessions into store until the situation improves. We are also discussing with shipping lines where Mumbai Old Port and Jawaharlal Nehru can be utilised to avoid the delay.
