Shipping to Paraguay – delays due to low water in the Paraná River

Please note that the low water situation and consequent draft (depth of the shipping vessel below the water line) restriction of the Paraná River generates a heavy barge congestion with strong delays of up to four weeks dwell time for transhipment boxes waiting at the port of Buenos Aires and Montevideo to connect to such river barges.

Many shipping lines have advised that they will temporarily discontinue to accept any shipments with final destination Paraguay due to low water on the river on route.

Customers moving to Montevideo (moving to Uruguay) and moving to Buenos Aires (moving to Argentina) at this time should not be effected by the build up on containers at these ports in transit to Paraguay. This situation will be monitored by Abels Moving Services.

Should you be shipping to Paraguay, shipping to Uruguay or shipping to Argentina please call your Abels Customer Liaison to discuss the current situation. Shipments to Paraguay are being held currently in Abels warehouse to avoid additional shipping line rental charges.
