Moving to Australia – Australia Day Holiday

  • News

For customers planning on moving to Australia, Abels Moving Services have been reminded by our agents about the Australia Day Holiday that falls at the end of January.

Moving to Australia

Australia Day is the official national day of Australia. Celebrated annually on 26 January, which marks the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet of British Ships at Sydney Cove, New South Wales, and raising of the Flag of Great Britain at that site by Governor Arthur Phillip.

Our Agents in Australia will be observing the National Public Holiday in Australia and therefore the majority of their offices will be closed on Monday 27th January 2014 to allow them “to throw some shrimp on the Barbie (BBQ)” and “swig on a few coldies” (drink some cold beverages).

We have been advised our agents will reopen their offices on Tuesday 28th January 2014.

Customer are advised to consider the effect of The Australia Day Holiday on moves being planned to and from Australia at the end of January.
