Abels have recently been advised by one of our FIDA agents about recent Customs Regulation changes in Nigeria.
Due to previous abuse of Customs Regulations and frequent by-passing of declarations, brand new furniture is prohibited to be shipped to Nigeria in household goods shipments. If new furniture is found in a shipment, this will lead to the total seizure of the container as well as seizure of the whole consignment.
Also note that old and used furniture shipped in quantities larger than a set per room, will attract fines and duties/taxes from Nigerian Customs.
The updated customs regulations should be carefully considered when furniture is being shipped to Nigeria.
