Shipping to Madagascar – Strikes at Port Causing Delays

Shipping to Madagascar – Strikes at Port Causing Delays to customers shipping to the island.

We have received current advice from our partners in relation to customers moving to Madagascar or considering shipping to Madagascar;

Madagascan port strikes are currently disrupting imports and exports to the island.

As a result of these strikes, our local agents have advised that they are unable to export containers from Tananarive to Tamatave (POL), and imports into the island are severely delayed.

For your advice to the reason of the delays – Port workers have downed tools in protest against the alleged illegal exports of rosewood from Madagascar, and are calling for a commission to investigate the matter.

The time frame for the strike is currently unknown.

Customers being shipped to Madagascar will be held in Abels export warehouse in storage to avoid port charges and container rental costs.
