Moving to Venezuela – Escalating Violence and Disruptions

  • News

For customers planning on moving to the Venezuela, Abels Moving Services have been updated by our agents about the escalation of violance in the country.

Our agents have indicated that in Venezuela through the past two weeks violence in the country has escalated by the day. For this reason and depending on the area of the residence of their employees, not all employees can access their offices. Many of our agents are also closing early as a precautionary measure. This obviously delays operations while they are trying to comply with all pending, confirmed services in as much as possible because there are certain areas that they cannot reach.

At this time it is not clear how much longer the violence will last but it may decrease in view of a presidential decree that officially Feb. 27 and 28, 2014 that everybody is to close work in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the civil revolt known as EL CARACAZO that resulted in hundreds of dead, situation that up to this date has not been resolved.

Monday March 3 and Tuesday the 4th 2014 are local holidays in Venezuela in view of the Carnival festivities and the President also decreed March 5 free, on commemoration of the first anniversary of the death of Hugo Chavez.
