Moving to Bangladesh – Strikes in Bangladesh

  • News

For customers planning on moving to Bangladesh, Abels Moving Services have been made aware of planned strikes in Bangladesh. These strikes have been called by a political party in Bangladesh.

Status on 30th October 2014

Please be informed that a political party in Bangladesh has called a countrywide strike. The strike is planned for Thursday, Sunday and Monday. The strike is due to a court verdict announced on the 29th October 2014. This strike will cause delays for people who are moving to Bangladesh.

The first phase 24-hour strike starts from 30th October, 6:00 AM to 31st October, 6:00 AM while the second phase of 48-hour strike will start on 2nd November, 6:00 AM and will conclude 4th November, 6:00 AM.

Strikes may have an impact on intercity cargo movements to and from ports for those moving to Bangladesh. Port operation in Bangladesh is normal but cargo moves from off dock to on dock might not be possible. The cargoes arriving on Friday and Saturdays can be loaded and will sail out.
