Import Restrictions and possible delays for customers moving to China due to a National Day Holiday.
Owing to China’s National Day Holiday which will run from October 1st – October 7th delays at ports across the country are to be expected and customs clearance time will increase.
Due to the holiday there will be potential delays for customs clearance and movement through ports. Given this advice additional costs may be incurred for quay rent and container demurrage (rent of the container). For your advice – when making bookings of the container Abels are permitted a period of “free time” at the destination port for when the container can be customs cleared and unloaded before these added charges are applied, if delays are experienced due to the holiday period the “free time” is likely to elapse before the goods are removed and therefore additional costs apply.
Where possible we will avoid shipping to Darryl and containers to arrive within this period to remove the risk of probably additional costs. Customers possessions will be moved to Abels purpose built storage facility to await shipping outside of this holiday period.
Please expect a backlog of containers following the holiday which normal services are resumed.
