Moving to India – Nationwide Dockworker Strike

  • News

For customers planning on moving to India, Abels Moving Services have been made aware of the start of an nationwide indefinite dockworker strike.

Update: 4th March 2015:

A nationwide indefinite dockworker strike is planned to begin Monday, March 9, 2015 in India, threatening to disrupt the country’s transport systems. Trade unions have called for the strike as workers are opposing the “unilateral decision of the Shipping Ministry to corporatize the country’s major ports.” Currently, there are 12 major ports in India including Nhava Sheva, New Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad that may be affected. Scheduled meetings with the Indian Ports Association are scheduled to begin on March 9.

As soon as new information becomes available on the strike, this will be added to the Abels website.
