Abels Moving Services have been advised of the start of blockages by French Truck Drivers in various parts of France. This is likely to effect routes into France and parts of Europe.
Today (17th May), truck drivers in the north of France have caused blockades around major roads. It is expected the strikes to intensify through Thursday 19th of May. The strikes are concentrated around the Nord region on the Channel, Nantes Caen, Marseille and Bordeaux, in the west – Rennes Nantes – but also from Lyon to Metz in the east and around Chalon sur Saone with blocks on industrial zones and motorway go-slows.
Several unions (the CGT, FO, FSU, UNEF, UNL, FIDL, and union syndical Solidaires), which cover a range of workers and students, have called for the strikes and protests over the new employment law.
