Luggage Delivery

Relax and let us ship your luggage

Here at Abels, we are specialists in providing international luggage delivery services for people moving abroad.

As an international moving company, our experts help you navigate the luggage landscape of sending the items that matter to you abroad, without incurring large airline fees. Our delivery service provides our customers with comprehensive removal packages that ensure you have everything you need when moving abroad.

What is Luggage Delivery?

A luggage delivery service ensures you do not have to spend time waiting around at the airport. Using a luggage delivery service can relieve the stress of bags and suitcases during travel and offers a cost-effective solution with options to have your bags and priority items delivered straight to your new residence.

Why use Luggage Delivery?

Luggage delivery services involve shipping any excess luggage and belongings you might have to the country of your destination. If you are moving abroad, it is likely that you will need a luggage delivery service to help save space and money, as airlines will only allow you to travel with a certain amount of personal luggage. This process is often referred to as airfreight shipping.

What Can You Send as Luggage?

Another common question for luggage delivery is “what kind of items can be packaged and sent?”

The answer:  you can send anything as luggage.

Many people prefer to send their belongings in a regular suitcase as this makes things easier for them to pack the items and they feel their items are secure. But in reality, you can send packing boxes, crates, or all kinds of items as luggage. For large and bulky items, these can be sent after confidently securing the contents.

Combining this service with your wider relocation often provides the flexibility, efficiency, and convenience for items such as:

  • Children’s favourite toys
  • Personal items such as desktops and workspace contents
  • Sport equipment and gym wear
  • Tailored protective equipment
  • Seasonal clothing

If you have a lot of items to send and are unsure of weight limits, then make sure you get in touch with Abels for a quote. We can take care of all your shipping needs and make sure that your items get delivered safely.

FAQs

Simply go to the Booking page and fill out the required details. You will receive an e-mail confirming that we have received your details and are processing your order. When the details are finalised we will send a ‘Confirmation of Booking’ email. You will then be sent by post or email your outbound and inbound luggage travel documents (Air Waybills). Please affix an Air Waybill to each piece of luggage ready for collection by a courier representative.

An Air Waybill is a paper ticket containing your collection and delivery details as well as a unique tracking number. Should you wish to make a note of the tracking number you can access an update of your shipment by visiting the Abels Excess Luggage on-line tracking system.

This may vary depending on what you are wishing to ship.  Golf Bags, Bicycles, Skis, Snowboards and Ski Boots must be packed in an airline compatible case or cover, and ensure that the Air Waybill is attached to your luggage.  For further information regarding consignment preparations, please contact our client support on +44 (0) 20 4525 4429 (UK)  +1 833-534-0276 (free-phone from the United States). Luggage shipping costs (the chargeable weight) is based on both the size and weight of your items – the cost is determined by whichever is the greater the weight or the size (the chargeable weight)

The prices that are displayed are based on the weight you select and the appropriate size is available for you to see or amend in the booking process.

If any single dimension of any item type measures more than 120cms these items are classified by our chosen airlines as ‘Oversize Piece’ and attract a surcharge.

The heaviest single item you can ship is 68kg /50lb.

The largest single dimension of your item that you can ship is 240cms. The largest size for the two smallest dimensions added together is 330cms. Please note the weight displayed on your barcoded luggage shipping labels is a nominal weight and does not reflect the weight booked and paid for.

All items are weighed and measured in transit by and if your item exceeds the allowance booked the additional cost due will be charged automatically to your card.

In order to calculate whether the weight or the size is greater and determine the correct chargeable weight the size is converted to a weight by simply multiplying the three dimensions of your luggage in cms (width x height x length) and then dividing by 5000 and this gives you the cm size converted to a kg weight, e.g. 83cm x 40cm x 30cm /5000 = 19.92kg

You can book with estimated weights and dimensions.

All items are weighed and measured in transit by the airline and if your item exceeds the allowance booked the additional cost due will be charged automatically to your card.

When measuring your item, this should be done from the widest, highest and longest points including bulges, wheels and handles.

You can enter the weight and dimensions in any order which will alter the price accordingly.

All items are weighed and measured in transit by the airline and if your item exceeds the allowance booked the additional cost due will be charged automatically to your card.
