Moving pets to the UAE
The importation of dogs and cats to the United Arab Emirates is not governed by the most stringent of laws by comparison, for example, with moving animals to Australasia. However, there are still rules which you will need to be aware of before making your move.
Permanent identification by microchip and a rabies vaccination are necessary 30 days before export. Both are essential for all dogs and cats entering the United Arab Emirates.
An import permit from the Ministry of Agriculture of the United Arab Emirates is necessary and can be obtained on your behalf.
When dogs are exported to UAE they must provide a blood test for Babesia, this is to be undergone within 14 days of departure. Once your date of departure is known we can provide you with more information regarding this procedure. Dogs will also need to be up to date on the normal annual vaccinations against Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvo, Para-influenza and Lepto, cats will need to be up to date on the annual Feline Flu and Enteritis vaccines.
Our quotation includes the provision of DEFRA export papers signed within 48 hours as well as the required tick and tapeworm treatment before departure. It is also possible for us to arrange a specialist pet agent in Dubai or Abu Dhabi to clear your pet through customs and to deliver him/her to your new residence.
