BUT BE SURE TO TELL SANTA TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT

Although it may feel that Christmas is far away, for many the preparation has already begun with buying presents and arranging family get-togethers. Then during the run-up to Christmas there is the round of parties and organising festive food. On top of all this a surprising number of people move over the Christmas period.

Philip Pertoldi, group managing director of Abels Moving Services explains: “You would think that many people everyone would avoid moving over Christmas, but we find its one of our busiest periods. We will be moving people right up until Christmas Eve, with the majority of these being out of storage. There are also a surprising number of moves overseas between Christmas and the New Year.

He adds: “To avoid disappointment it is a good idea to arrange a home survey of goods to be moved and obtain and get quotations for a move as soon as you market your property. And when you have a good idea of the moving date discuss this book the move as soon early as possible with the mover of preference to avoid disappointment.”

As well as removers, those involved at the end of the moving chain like carpet fitters and Solicitors are also hectic in December especially the last two weeks pre Christmas.

Prior to moving into a new property it may be necessary to place household belongings over the Christmas period or for longer into storage. If this is the case, it is recommended to look around any prospective storage company’s storage premises for assurance that it will match expectations. This means well-ordered, maintained and secure accommodation. premises, and not someone ’s barn or dilapidated warehouse.

Additionally, the storage company should provide facilities with 24 hour security and stringent fire control with a strict no smoking policy. Furthermore, a reputable company will provide features to protect some various special items from the effects of storage possible storage risks, such as purpose-built racks or specially designed storage containers for soft furnishings, upholstered furniture and other delicate objects, which if incorrectly stored are prone to pressure damage. Separate facilities for storing cars and other large heavy items may also be provided.

Phillip Pertoldi adds: “Planning well ahead of the moving date is time well spent as it will help ensure a stress free move , as much as possible avoiding the last minute hassles as everyone else seems to go into holiday mood, and you c an also enjoy good cheer over Christmas!”.
