Moving to Vietnam – Congestion at Cat Lai Port

For customers planning on moving to the Vietnam, Abels Moving Services have been updated by our agents on the port congestion at Cat Lai Port in Vietnam.

Due to main port TAN CANG in HOCHIMINH City in Vietnam will be closed by 1 November 2014, This is to allow the building of the urban New City. As a result of the closure, all shipments will now need to shipped via Cat Lai Port in Vietnam, however there is Port congestion which is expected to continue for next few months.

All Used household Goods shipments in/out of the port have a very restricted process at the moment.

To assist with shipping items though Cat Lai Port the following are a requirement:

For Import into HCM City:

  • Copy of Passport/ VN Visa/ VN Work Permit of shipper (3 copies with Notarized)
  • Original arrival card (with declare with airport customs that you have used personal effect shipment arrive by sea)
  • Confirmation letter from Shipper company in Vietnam (3 copies – with company stamp and signature on)
  • Shipper company name and address in HCMC
  • Authorizer letter prepared and needs client to sign on.

For export out of HCM City:

  • Copy of Passport/ VN Visa/ VN Work Permit of shipper( 3 copies with Notarized)
  • Confirmation letter from Shipper company in Vietnam (3 copies- with company stamp and signature on)
  • Shipper company name and address in HCMC
  • Authorizer letter signed at Notary office.
