Australian Port Strikes

Containers due into Australia are likely in some way to be effected by port strikes between the 9th and 14th April.   Customers shipping to Australia should not be too concerned, delays are not expected to be lengthy.

Whilst the below message from our shipping agents Maersk do not envisage delays to their vessels, the strkes will undoubtedly cause delays and congestion for other liners and have an overal effect on containers on the wharf, resulting in backlogs of containers to be hauled away from the port.

Please talk to your Abels move coordinator to discuss shipping to Australia.  Call +44 1842 816600  shipping@abels.co.uk

Impact to Maersk Line services due to strikes at Patrick Terminals in Australia

Maersk Line would like to take this opportunity to update all of our Australian customers of the expected impact to our services as a result of the currently planned strike actions which will affect Patrick Terminals in the comings days.

At this stage we do not expect to see any impact to our services as a result of the planned strikes in Brisbane and Fremantle.

In Melbourne the strike is planned to take place between Saturday 9th April and Tuesday 12th April. This will have an impact on our Boomerang service vessel Maersk Gairloch voyage 111N. To reduce the impact on this service Maersk Line have arranged for the berth of this vessel to be brought forward and we do not expect any impact on the shipments booked for this vessel.

In Sydney the strike is planned to take place between Tuesday 12th April and Thursday 14th April. This will have an impact on our Boomerang service vessels MSC Siena voyage 112N and Maersk Gateshead voyage 117E as well as the Southern Star Express service vessel Maersk Radford voyage 1107.

At this stage we are implementing contingencies that will minimise impact to customer shipments on the Maersk Gateshead voyage 117E. Any customers with affected shipments will be notified directly by our Customer Service with details on any contingency plan.

The MSC Siena voyage 112N will berth in Sydney as soon as the Industrial Action is completed, 2.5 days late in her schedule, however we will make up the lost time in the schedule in followings ports with 1 day delay into Melbourne and an expected on time arrival into Fremantle and there is no expected impact to customer shipments on this vessel.

The Maersk Radford voyage 1107 will omit Sydney and will call the next port on rotation Melbourne as per original schedule. All customers with affected shipments will be notified of the contingency for their cargo directly by our Customer Service team once all contingencies are finalised.

Should you have any queries regarding the changes, please contact your local Maersk Line representative.
