A MOVING STORY OF LOYALTY AT ABELS

The summer has seen a number of Abels’ employees pass notable milestones in their service.

Long service certificates and in certain instances thank you gifts, have been presented to 10 members of staff, with two further employees retiring after giving a lifetime of service to the company. Combined, their service years total a staggering 268 years.

Peter Frake retired earlier this year after 49 years’ service as removal team leader.

Philip Pertoldi, group managing director, said: “The quality of service provided to customers is dependent upon the skills and dedication of our staff. Peter has made a significant contribution to Abels during his working life and we are all very grateful for his loyalty and service.”

Long service certificates were presented to Graham Ling for 30 years, to Mike Pilch, Darryl Browne and Dave Potter for 25 years, each which is supplemented by gifts of their choice to a value of £500, and to Kevin Baker and Duncan Perry for 20 years.

Paul Brown received a certificate for 15 years plus a gift to a value of £250 and Karan Bye, Sarah Butcher and Joe Dods received 10-year certificates.

“Abels has a reputation for long service,” continued Philip Pertoldi. “The average length of employment across the whole company is 13 years. This longevity allows us to provide a consistency of service, and also enables customers who return to us time-and-time again to have the same team that moved them on the first occasion.

“One of the key reasons why staff stay with us for so long is that we provide them with the skills and expertise which enable them to do the job well, and give them a sense of pride. We take training seriously: we were the first remover to open its own training school, and we were the first to achieve Investors in People accreditation.”
