Robert Crosthwaite (61) has retired as financial director from Abels Moving Services after 22 years’ service. His association with the firm started in 1980 when he was offered the post of general manager, and then went on to help grow the business from a turnover of £1 million to £10 million. He initially left in 1992 after the sale by the family to a major Plc and set up his own management consultancy advising many well-known local firms. However, he rejoined Abels in 1998 after accepting an invitation to participate in a management buyout of the company, and became its financial director, responsible for IT, finance and marketing.
